Since there are only so many levels, more advanced vocabulary will have to be picked up elsewhere. Rosetta Stone is best used for beginning a language.

I have become a huge fan of Rosetta Stone, but if it's not your style of learning, you would be best using a free resources that doesnt require regular use. If you take a few weeks off, it can really neuter the value of process. The system of learning requires slowly building understanding of the language using a spacing technique to develop long-term neurological connections. If you're willing to buy it, you should be aware that if you don't use it (almost) every day for 20-30 minutes, you will really be wasting your money. It is an expensive resource, but I found it to be worth it and have even picked it up for other language (when it was on sale of course).
Rosetta Stone goes at a very slow pace (especially if you are familiar with the target language) but that slow pace and repetition are incredibly effective in creating strong long-term basis for the language. The feature that allows you to record your pronunciation and compare it to a native speaker improved my pronunciation dramatically. It helped me develop supper quick recall, not only for finding the right word in a conversation but also to pick up what people were saying even at a rapid-fire Parisian pace. I would have had a much harder time in that class if I hadn't spent the summer going through three levels of Rosetta Stone (I wouldn't suggest getting fewer that 3 levels). I switched universities after my first year of French to a much more challenging school where all languages classes were taught in the target language (my Parisian professor was not fluent in English by any stretch of the imagination). But I found it to be one of the BEST supplementary resources I used when starting out learning a language. You cannot use Rosetta Stone as the primary source for learning a language it does a terrible job of supporting any understanding of grammar. I actually bought and used Rosetta Stone (not pirated), and I think it is a fantastic resource.
